We are thrilled to announced the recipient of the educational scholarship - Ebba Te Tua.
This years recipient, Tui Papuni, has been granted the scholarship to support her Masters in Education studies at University of Waikato. Completing her Bachelor in Teaching in 2014, Tui has continued with postgraduate study. In 2021 she completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Educational Leadership and is now undertaking her Masters in Education.
Tui is very passionate about education, and is strongly set on the journey to revitalise and normalise the use of te reo Maori. "I am committed to being part of making a positive change for our tamariki [children], mokopuna [grandchildren] and rangatahi [youth].
"Educational success is paramount in order to achieve goals in life as a leader, a teacher and a student. Being able to enrich our community in ways that bring about a greater sense of who we are is important to me" says Tui.
'The Generus Living and Mangatawa Partnership established the scholarship in honour of respected teacher and kuia Ebba Te Tua who taught at Arataki School in Mount Maunganui for nearly 30 years. The annual scholarship supports the professional and educational development of Mangatawa uri [descendants] who have chosen to pursue a career in education and in particular are committed to the revitalisation of Te Reo Maori.
